Born in Karnataka.
Loved Everywhere.

For fifty years, Karnataka's dairy farmers have poured their mornings into one promise — milk you can trust, from a name you know. That promise is Nandini.

A farmer-owned cooperative; a movement that belongs to the people who produce it.

Nandini is the brand of the Karnataka Co-operative Milk Producers' Federation (KMF) the apex body of Karnataka's dairy cooperative movement and India's second-largest dairy cooperative. Every litre we sell begins with a farmer who is also an owner.

Around 26 lakh milk producers across Karnataka pool their milk through village-level societies, which come together under district unions, which come together under KMF. What they build together is sold under a single name the state grew up on: Nandini.

One chain of ownership. Every level answers to the farmer.

Nandini runs on the Anand Pattern — the three-tier cooperative structure that powered India's White Revolution. It's deliberately built so that decisions, and profits, stay close to the ground.

Village Dairy Cooperative Societies (DCS)

The doorstep of the system. In more than 17,000 villages, farmers pour their milk each morning and evening, it's tested and weighed on the spot, and they're paid for what they bring. Every society is run by a board the farmers elect themselves.

The name
we carry.

Nandini is the divine cow of Indian mythology the one who gives without ending, a symbol of abundance and purity.

When Karnataka's farmers chose a name for the milk they made together, they chose that one. It has carried the same meaning ever since: nourishment you can rely on, given freely, morning after morning.

Where it began.

Karnataka’s dairy journey begins with the first dairy at Kudige in Kodagu in 1955. By 1965, Bangalore had a 1.5 lakh litre-a-day dairy.

The first drops of a much bigger journey.

When the farmer owns the dairy, the profit goes home.

A cooperative measures itself differently. The value Nandini creates flows back to rural Karnataka — in fair, direct payment for milk, in incentives that top up a farmer's earnings, and in programmes that reach far beyond the farm gate: free milk for schoolchildren, hostels for students, and support for women-led dairying across the state.

behind the name.

For a food brand, trust isn't a claim it's a certificate. Nandini's laboratories and plants operate to accredited national and international quality and food-safety standards, with testing built into every stage from procurement to pack.
